Delicious Library Shelf Theme Contest

Delicious Monster and MacThemes.net are pleased to announce a design contest to promote Delicious Monster's debut application, Delicious Library. Artists can design and submit shelf themes from November 15th through November 22nd, replacing Library's wooden shelves with modern or quirky alternatives.

The three winners will be selected by a combination of reader and panel votes, and receive almost $400 worth of prizes, including free copies of Delicious Library. The first place winner will receive a $50 gift certificate to use at Amazon.com to stock their library, a wireless bluetooth barcode scanner (valued at $175), and a copy of Delicious Library. The second place winner will receive a $50 Amazon.com gift certificate and a copy of Delicious Library. The third place winner will receive a copy of Delicious Library.

All theme submissions will be available on MacThemes.net for users to try out. There will be a one week voting period beginning November 23rd, and winners will be announced on the 30th.

Due to a large number of entries, we are now limiting submissions to one per person.

If you are interested in designing a submission, download the submission package by clicking the link below, and submit your design to contest@macthemes.net before the November 22nd deadline! All entries will be property of Delicious Monster Software LLC.

How many entries are we allowed per person?

Why was the 3rd comment removed? He had an extremely valid point.

I don't see the validity at all. First of all, it's not planned to include these themes in Delicious Monster as first party themes. This is just to give Library users some other options. Second of all, Delicious Monster was cofounded by a very capable artist, Mike Matas, and I can assure you that this contest was not created to save a little money on artwork. Third of all, this isn't a very involved design, and it really involves only a few images. First prize is over $250 value. Most artists charge $50-$75 per hour, so I really think this is reasonable.

Squirreled up a dumb background just to test, ran the patcher, and now DL won't launch. Dialogue box says "Beta 4 Expired" and tells me to get a new beta. Has anyone else used the patcher successfully? Rather wish the theme package came with any instructions at all. Oh well.

Do you have the latest, non beta release of Delicious Library?

Posted by Somebody at November 16, 2004 10:13 AM

Rather interestingly, I downloaded, bought and created a new theme for Delicious library in the first hours of it's existence.
selfishly wanting a bit of "thanx", I sent the themes I made, along with a little comment to the developpers.
Well guess what ? I never got an answer, and a few weeks later, I happen to see that this contest is being launched.
Maybe i'm way over my head, and 30 other people have done the same, but even a simple mail with "thanx, we'll launch a contest..." would have pleased me.
Maybe (just maybe) they thought the wooden theme would please everybody on this planet...

You'll understand that I'll be sending the themes to the contest, and thus don't want my name posted here.

I sure think I do. Downloaded from DM's servers last Wednesday. Get Info says version 1.0 - v2444. Tried uninstalling the theme, but DL is still borked. This is with the demo. Is the full version required?

Posted by Phillip Ryu at November 16, 2004 11:44 AM

I just tested it here, and it seems to work fine. I'd recommend trying to download Delicious Library once more.

Wow. That was SO easy to make a theme and then test it out! How many can I submit?

Posted by Mike at November 16, 2004 05:15 PM

The "Beta 4 Expired" is a known error. You need to download Library again even though the version number is the same. The new Library also has lookup from UK, Germany and Japan Amazon stores.

My themes done and sent thanks for the contest guys had a lot of run making the theme... Roll one with the voting thats what I say (-:

the lookup for amazon japan and germany isn't working, even with the latest download, why?

Posted by mark at November 25, 2004 08:20 AM

Tried installing a few of the themes, but the app won't launch any more after a few installations. Do I have to "restore" between installs? The App still seems very Beta-ish to me. Could use some contextual menus if You asked me - ok, nobody did that... ;-)
