I think you've successfully merged both Aqua and Luna without losing the usability that both themes have.

The only things that is bothering me is the noisiness of Drag Bar Widget and jagged arrows in Pop-Up Button.

Other than that, it's a well-thought out theme. Good job.

I find Luna (and especially its color palette) somewhat offensive... so I don't know whether to blame Hal or Microsoft for making me queasy right now ;)

Good color schemes in this mockup. The green seems a little out of place, however. The selected tab has no effective differences between the other tab, but that's behavioral only. Other than that, i have no problem with this design. It's not overly creative, but it is bright and easy on the eyes. However, some elements are a little jagged/blotchy, such as the slider edges and the scroll arrows.

I really don't like this theme, the color use is bad, and it looks cheap.

It started me thinking about Mario Bro's. I think a real cartoony theme would be awesome for maybe a kiddies user profile on the mac. I think this entry needs a lot more refining and smoothing out.

The titlebar is wicked, but the rest of it seems too amateurish... the widgets are just too "dirty" feeling. If the semi-glowing-aqua titlebar idea could be expanded though...

The idea is quite well executed, I just don't like the idea.. :P

Opps, that comment above was by me.

Hmm... very Fisher-Price. The menu font works nicely in the menu bar, but not in the menu proper. Pretty cool.

Hi all, Thanks for the comments. It is much appriciated. I just wanted to add something since it seemed to get lost with my entry. The full name of my theme is called Hyper.OSX {BubbleGum Edition}.

Everything is completely intentional inline with the initial idea of creating a "bubblegume" theme.

Well, not everything is intentional. I forgot to make one take selected. Doh!

Enough from me. Carry on. Best, Hal!

seems a bit muddy but otherwise I like the idea. Going with a number of color schemes from the 8 bit gaming days would be great though.

I really like this one. I always thought mixing luna and aqua would make something nice.

Not quite sure what to say. Someone above mentioned "kiddie theme," and I'll go along with that. It seems to accomplish your goal for almost every element, and that's pretty impressive. Just isn't a style I go for, though... maybe I should get my nephew to comment ;).

A few suggestions. The selected menubar item is a little too dark and out of place, same goes for Finder toolbar buttons, and window widgets seem a bit washed out and are rather disconcerting. Other than that very well put together, though.

Next Mac user to vote for this needs to be slapped. It's way too XP! The title bar is about the best part though.

Posted by Ernest Liu at March 31, 2004 11:51 PM

I disagree with NetworkShadow. The whole point of this was that it resembled XP (right?), and it was well done. I personally don't like the XP interface, but the colorization of this theme is less... well... I don't know any good word, but "girly". Well done, but you can always add more creativity and originality ;D.

This is created to highlight some of my favorite aspects of both platforms, but then mashing them together and putting it on speed. Hence the Hyper in the name.

I dig that some people dig this and some don't.

Oh well. I have had my fill of dark themes though. I guess this is also my answer to that as well.

Thanks for the love to those who have shown interest in the design.

All the best, Hal!

I kinda like it. Has a 'cuteness' to it.

Ah bah. Too bright and amateurish, I think.
