zandrOS

Pro LCDAuthor: Alexander Palmo
Final Score: 74%
Description: The ZandrOS theme is meant to evoke the image of a shiny, red, fast car (or motorcycle is you prefer.) The styled window-bar looks kind of like a futuristic muffler or something. "Screws" are tastefully sprinkled throughout the interface.

Some really nicely rendered elements here, love the screwheads... The red is neat too, but the bites along the titlebar are a bit much I think.

This I like. I would have called it Toolbox, because that's what it looks like to me. Very clean and nicely done! Good job!

Sweetness! I love the titlebar the most. The red goes very nicely with the gray aqua and metal and adds a lot of originality to this mockup. I'd write more, but I'm kind of tired now. Very excellent design, better than average execution of glossy elements, and a very vibrant feel to it despite the gray.

I hate the titlebar. Everything else is really slick and nice.

I like it very much. It has a clean loook and the screws are a nice add to the idea, and not overdone at all.

The red of the titlebar could be a little darker red to prevent it to be so "in your face".

You'd expect the bright red to be really distracting, but I think it's a nice highlight to the metal look. Menu bar is very nice.. About the only thing I'm not totally sure of are the black elements on the titlebar, though it's kinda growing on me. Nice work.

Hmmm, intersting, BUT,..... I'd like to see a more muted red without the "bite marks". The screws are interesting, but the whole theme would look more classy if they weren't there. Nice gradients and I alos like the rounded elements (square isn't my thing). Could also be a nice theme in all grey.

Nicely done.

I like the bite marks. It makes this theme unique.
The red really jumps out at ya.
Other colors would also be nice.

Nice work here. I think it would be cool if the red parts looked like tail lights. Anyway. It looks useable, clean, constent, and fun. It was a good surprise at the end of the list. Great job Alexander

I've been hoping for a red-accented theme, and this has just the right amount. To echo, I'm not sure I like the "bites" out of the titlebar either, but I do like the screw details. The gradients are beautiful, especially the menubar that definitely evokes a chrome tailpipe. Best of all, the design elements don't get in the way...I could see using this on a long-term basis.

Thanks for all the nice comments.

I wasn't going to comment/explain myself out of fairness, but it looks like other contestants are... so...

It looks like people either love or hate the titlebar I personally like it. I feel like it's the one thing that really differentiates the theme from other ones. That's mainly why it's in there.

Also, I was debating about the red. It was a toss-up between red, yellow, and chrome. I went with the red because I like how it stands out and it kind of grew on me... However, if this gets made into a theme I would definitely want the chrome/grey version too. :)

This contest is awesome. It's been a lot of fun. I hope that it becomes a yearly (or even quartly) thing. (And thanks to pillryu for putting up with my emails...)

Yes, minus the "bitemarks" as was already said, I'd use it and like it!
Can easily (so says I) be made in different variations...
Nice.

Well, I guess that settles it. If this ever turns into a theme, it needs variants with the bite marks and without. Easy enough.

I like the red a lot. The bevel and gradient effects on it are a little over the top, but the red is good anyway. I especially like how you didn't try to force the red into other elements. It takes guts to not do that, and it came out better because of it. Sometimes the hard part is knowing when to stop, heh.

Overall a pretty nice effort... not a personal favorite but definitely nothing to be ashamed of.

Very very cool, how about besides "bite mark" variants there could also be a yellow and/or blue style?

The screws: impresive.

I dig. Top five. The whole thing rocks, although I might wish for buttons sunken in the manner of the progress bars.

Alexander, wicked design dude -- don't touch that titlebar! The color red has yet to be used properly in any OS X theme that I can think of... rather than flooding the design w/ red backgrounds and red buttons and red text and red llamas you kept it restricted but still came out with a smooth interface.

My only suggestion would be to make the close widget a torque or allen screw or something a little different. Looks good as it is, but it seems to me if you were just going to use a 45° flat head screw that you should've just made it a phillips screw in the "x" position.

This thing positively glows from the chrome. Beautifully rendered. A pity red isn't my color.

I figured out why I don't like the bites. To me they feel like chips out of a fabulous candy-apple finish, like someone threw gravel at a new car. That said, I still love this theme and wish it had made it into the top six. I hope you might consider moving forward with it on your own.
